No one looks at them
This maybe the myth given out by estate agents to brush over the fact they are taking 3 times more off you. You dont have to look at them but they show you how to save money on your new house.
I moved into a house in 2010 and using my EPC have lowerd the bill from £120 to £44 in 6 years. They give clear guidance on how your lovely new home can be improved sometimes only for a few pounds and save energy.
Close friends have asked to see them and they get excuses or told its just the graph on their website.

Its a Government TAX
Yes they get VAT on the sales but its not a TAX most working in the industry are independent people who use the money to run their business.
The government want people to see how to save the energy we all use and hopefully save money on our bills.
Estate agents say we would love to scrap them but still take 3 times more off people then we get for them. But worse they ignore letting customers know why they are being done.

The one to look at is the new home you have bought. A few simple things can help lower your bills a lot. Some agents never show the full certificate even when asked they are selling them at 3 times more and not even letting you see them.
